Welcome to Downtown Tacoma in the summer of 1924!
Seen here are a group of boys outside the historic Y.M.C.A building, who were sponsored by the Tacoma Rotary Club to spend one week at a local summer camp. The Tacoma Y.M.C.A. was organized in 1883 and was devoted to providing boys with extracurricular activities like sports, swimming, camping, and religious studies in order to help develop young men into healthy adults, both physically and mentally.
Tacoma's Y.M.C.A programs continue to operate to this day, and now provides youth programs for both boys and girls.
