WORLD SERIES
Take me out to the ballgame, take me out with the crowd!
Looking straight ahead, the building before you was once home to the old Tribune Publishing Company.
On October 5th, 1930, crowds of baseball fans flocked here to watch the box score of the World Series game as the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals faced off. The News Tribune displayed a large scoreboard outside of the building, allowing fans to follow along with the championship game play-by-play where the Athletics prevailed, winning 4 - 2.
Just six years earlier in 1924, baseball legend and famous Yankee slugger Babe Ruth visited the Tribune building before competing in a game between the Tacoma All-Stars and the Timber Leaguers.
