HONAN'S

For many years, Irish Americans from across the region would travel to Downtown Tacoma to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at longtime establishment, Honan’s Restaurant & Bar.

Each year on March 17th, Honan’s would facilitate a transatlantic phone call to Ireland to speak with the owner and patrons at their namesake, Honan’s Pub, in County Clare on St. Patty’s Day. The annual phone call was made from a green telephone in the bar, which they called their green line to Ireland.

Today, Club Silverstone calls the same location home and their name now resides on Honan’s original neon sign outside, which you can see while standing here in this exact spot looking across the street to your left.
