RIALTO
In the spring of 1946, the motion picture "Road to Utopia" starring Tacoma native Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour, and Bob Hope was premiering at Downtown Tacoma’s iconic Rialto Theatre. Students from the College of Puget Sound, now known as the University of Puget Sound, flocked to the theater to see the flick.
The Rialto Theatre was built in 1918 and started out exclusively as a grand movie palace, known for showing silent films set to the sounds of a live pipe organ.
